AUDITION TAPES SERIES
In AUDITION TAPES SERIES, video and live performance works explore select pre-production elements of filmmaking, and introduce the idea of the rehearsal and audition as performance. This series is part of a larger body of work.

In Split Screen Test, the artist appears in the role of an actor reciting a text. On one screen she delivers the text; on the other she passively observes as both subject and object, viewer and star.
DURATION: 1 minute, 26 seconds. IMAGE: Video still.
In Star, an actor is brought into the studio for a cold read of a monologue that romanticizes celebrity life, and rationalizes a desire for both an authentic and superficial existence.
DURATION: 15 minutes. IMAGE: Video still.
In Hollywood Story, an actor is brought into the studio expecting to cold read a monologue and is instead given limited time to prepare for an off script audition.
DURATION: 15 minutes. IMAGE: Video still.
OPEN CALL is a live performance work that explores the prospect of becoming a celebrity. This project was first workshopped at Struts Gallery, Canada in 2011 under the working title Audition Tapes.
